After I graduated from Wilkes University and served a hitch in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, I then graduated from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia. Afterwards, I returned to Luzerne County where I was born and raised and have practiced law there ever since. In 1980, I formed a partnership with Attorney John Swatkoski, taking on the name of Meyer & Swatkoski Associates, P.C.

In the beginning, as most new attorneys, I participated in a broad variety of plaintiff's litigation at all levels of state and federal trial courts, including numerous state and federal administrative agencies. I also represented a variety of defendants charged with serious crimes until I confined my practice to civil litigation. Because I believe that people in the midst of a divorce comprise that group of clients that most desperately require legal representation to alleviate the presenting crisis with which they are confronted and in which they have no experience, I also concentrate in family law as well.

Since my admission to the Pennsylvania Bar, I have been admitted to practice before all the State and Federal Courts in Pennsylvania, and in 1978 I was admitted to the United States Supreme Court. Professionally, I was honored to be elected President of the the distinguished Luzerne County Bar Association in 1984, and in 1985 was appointed a member and eventually the Chairman of a Disciplinary Hearing Committee of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in which I was actively involved for eight years. I am gratified to have achieved the highest rating offered by Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory and to be listed in the Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers, which includes only 5% of all practicing attorneys. I am also a Fellow of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, all of which was the result of the review and approval of peers. Being included in Who's Who in American Law is a prestigious distinction of which I am particularly proud. My interest in alternate dispute resolution resulted in an appointment by the court of Luzerne County to act as a special trial master and also I am a certified mediator for the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Lastly, I mention with humility that I have also been named by my professional peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.

I have been actively involved in the local, State and Federal Bar Associations and in the Pennsylvania and American Trial lawyers Associations. Civically, I have been and still am involved in numerous organizations in which I have served in a variety of positions, including as a trustee, director, president, and judge advocate. The accomplishments of these various civic and charitable organizations have created a balance in my life that continues to give me much pleasure and personal satisfaction. In short, I have been devoted to my family, my profession and my community, which has made my life very full.
